Abdominal Compress with Yarrow
This warm, herbal compress uses the traditional properties of Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) to provide soothing warmth and comfort to the abdominal area. It is a classic method for supporting digestive processes and easing internal tension.
Materials Needed

A handful of yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

Approximately 500 ml (half a liter) of water

Inner compress cloth (to be applied to the skin)

Outer cloth (for wringing and securing)

Wool cloth (for insulation)

Hot water bottle (not too full)

01 Preparing Infusion

Boil the water and pour it over the yarrow.

Cover and let it steep for at least 10 minutes.

Strain the infusion to remove the plant material.
02 Soak Compress

Place the inner compress cloth (the one that will be applied to the skin) inside a larger cloth.

Immerse both cloths in the hot yarrow infusion until fully soaked.

Remove the cloths and wring them out by twisting the ends of the larger outer cloth vigorously.

Take out the smaller inner cloth (now damp and warm) and apply it to the abdomen as hot as can be tolerated.

Secure the compress in place using a piece of stretched cotton or linen that wraps around the entire waist.

Cover everything with a wool cloth to retain warmth.

Ensure that all cloth layers extend well beyond the compress to avoid cold zones at the edges.

Place a not-too-full hot water bottle on top of the compress.

Secure it in place with pajama pants or a waistband.
