Comfort Guide

Chest Wrap with Essential Oils

Materials Needed

  • A thin cloth (as wide as the chest)

  • The prepared essential oil mixture

  • A small plastic (polyethylene) bag

  • Two hot water bottles (or heating pads)

  • A piece of virgin wool

  • A large cotton cloth to wrap around the torso

  • Optional outer layer: a wool scarf or sleeveless wool vest

Indications & contradictions

This chest wrap is helpful for providing comforting warmth and support during times of respiratory imbalance. The essential oils used (Lavender, Eucalyptus, Aleppo pine) are known to:

  • Provide aromatic support for clear breathing.

  • Promote relaxation and ease chest tension.

  • Support the body during times of chest or lung discomfort (e.g., associated with a common cold).

    Essential oils can be homemade by mixing 1 part of essential oil (lavender, eucalyptus, or pine) with 9 parts of olive oil (at 10% dilution).

01 Preparation

  • Soak the thin cloth in the essential oil mixture.

  • Warm the soaked cloth by placing it inside the plastic bag, and then sandwiching it between two hot water bottles.

  • At the same time, warm the virgin wool layer (near a heater or wrapped in a warm towel).

02 Application

  • Once warm, quickly place the soaked cloth on the chest area (over the lungs).

  • Immediately cover it with the layer of virgin wool.

  • Wrap the torso with a large cotton cloth, ensuring the wrap is smooth and snug, but not tight.

  • To help retain warmth, you can also add an outer wrap using a wool scarf or sleeveless wool sweater.

Important Notes

Important to keep the tissue inside a plastic bag so that the aroma and healing properties are conserved
